Murder Mystery
dinner…
Casey organized an AWESOME murder mystery dinner for us in
Aalsmere, Heemsekerk… For those of you
who do not know how it works, this is what happened… We travelled a half an hour from Amsterdam to
Heemsekerk, where we were to stay for a night in a castle! We
were then to attend a three course dinner (this was a groupon deal we bought),
and then, together with the dinner, we had a murder mystery to solve… Something along the lines of Cluedo J
We arrived, in snow and ice in Heemsekerk with an ICEWIND
blowing, only to learn that the tower of the castle we were staying in, had NO
heating! It was extremely cold!!! Us girls also decided that it would be a good
opportunity to dress up a bit, and packed dresses for the occasion! Cocktail dresses in – 12 degrees!! I think we deserved a medal for that J We dressed up and headed for our table… Being the only English group, and also the
only group who dressed for success, we had quite some attention on us J On the table, there were place setting for 8
people… Everyone had a character which
you would perform for the night… Everyone
received a “prop” to give substance to their character… The setting was as follows: We were all cruising on the ship of Jaun Paul
(very rich guy, with loads of enemiesJ),
and one of the guests murdered him… There
were different rounds to the game - where you would get a card with information
(per character), and you then have to ask questions to the other characters in
order to expose the real killer… You
have to listen very carefully, as the facts got really intertwined! It was a lot of fun! The hilarious part was, that the game was in
Dutch… So all of us were kind of in the
deep end, as we are not fluent in the language!
We had a lot of laughs!
The characters were as follows: There was the Rockstar, Lourens, the very
rich Widower, Dominque, Claudia (the illegitimate daughter of Juan Paul),
Pascal, the Captain of the Ship, the butler – Louan, Highly intelligent writer,
Angela Kristie – Casey, Linda, the ex-wife of Juan Paul, and Dr Bernard
(myself) – a male gynaecologist, who was the personal physician of Juan
Paul… Confusing, I know! All of us had motive, but in the end it was
found that it was the ex-wife of Juan Paul, seeking some revenge… J Had a lot of good laughs, and a lot of fun
playing this game! Would really
recommend this if ANY of you have the chance to take part in a murder mystery
dinner… Good way to relax and have a
great time with friends!
