Cologne Christmas Market!

Cologne Christmas Market!

I am a bit behind on posting some suitcase memories - so bear with me :)  A group of us (Casey, Louan, Noel, and myself) decided to drive down to Cologne to experience an European Christmas market…  We drove from Amsterdam to Cologne for the day and had an AMAZING time!  There were 6 Christmas markets set-up throughout Cologne…  There were sooo many people, it was totally insane!  Difficult to walk easily, but I guess this was all part of the experienceJ  We visited four of the six Christmas markets…  Everything was full of colour, flavours and you could really FEEL the Christmas Spirit!  The biggest market was set up next to the Dom Church…  Really amazing walking through a Christmas market, and then looking up, you see the most beautiful church!  There were gluwhein (warm Red Christmas wine basically), bratwursts (German Hot dogs), pretzels, coffee, beautiful Christmas ornaments!, signing, Christmas trees, the works!

I attach some pictures, as I think the pictures speaks more than a thousand words!
It was EXTREMELY cold!  The evening, after we left Cologne, it started snowing!  Halfway through the day we seeked some warmth from the cold outside and met up with some of our other friends – Sue, Eugenie, Matilda and Louri and went to one of the Beerhalls, Germany are known for…  We had a good afternoon, catching up with friends, and just relaxing!  As it gets dark so much earlier in the Winter, we were privileged enough to see the Christmas market by night as well!  Was spectacular!  I attach some photos…  I bought some Christmas decorations, for my Christmas tree, for when I return to SA J  Was the highlight of my day!
